Coach and Mrs. Osborne Review "Black Panther"

As you all know, Coach is a purist.  If the movie doesn't keep with the Marvel creation, she really struggles.  To say the least!  Needless to say, she left this movie amused.  While she didn't leave in a lathered rage or get kicked out by some 16 year old usher for her running commentary during the movie, she did have some issues with the characterization of a few key roles.  Particularly,  she felt that T'Challa in the movie was not as strong willed as T'Challa in the comics.  This, of course is no fault of the actor, it is a choice they made in writing for the movie.  Coach felt that the T'Challa in the Black Panther movie wasn't even as strong willed as the T'Challa in the Captain America: Civil War movie.  All of that just says that Marvel's movie version of T'Challa is not the strong, decisive character that T'Challa in the comics is.

Unfortunately, both Coach and I agree, this will change things in the future for this character.  I mean really!  How can you expect Storm, the Goddess of Nature and X-man co-leader, to ever pair up with a weak willed T'Challa! 

And futhermore, we want answers!  Where was Bast, the Panther Goddess??!!  She is much more of a presence in the comics.  All the Wakandian power originates from her.  Both coach and I love the portrayal of the strong female characters in this movie, and we agree that one real win in the Black Panther movie was the representation of female minorities in tech.  But don't take the power away from Bast, Marvel!  Please!

We will definitely be anxiously awaiting the next installment.
