The Super Sons of Tomorrow!

A Super Meeting for "The Super Sons of Tomorrow"! Friday was definitely funday at Davis!  We met in the media center to discuss our new comic series, The Super Sons of Tomorrow.  We love this series because it pulls in so many crossover stories.  So far in the series, we've seen Batman (Tim Drake) from another universe and the Teen Titans.  This of course generated a lot of conversation about friendship and how we handle disagreements. We weren't all weighty conversation at this meeting though!  We made awesome comic book buttons and enjoyed chocolate donuts.  Our next meeting is on Friday, March 16 at 7:30 am in the media center.  We'll be finishing out our current series and discussing The Super Sons of Tomorrow 3, 4 and the Finale.

Coach and Mrs. Osborne Review "Black Panther"

Coach and Mrs. Osborne Review "Black Panther" First of all, parents and students need to know that this film has several fight scenes and some cursing.  Please also consider consulting Common Sense Media to gauge appropriate content  ( https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/black-panther ). As you all know, Coach is a purist.  If the movie doesn't keep with the Marvel creation, she really struggles.  To say the least!  Needless to say, she left this movie amused.  While she didn't leave in a lathered rage or get kicked out by some 16 year old usher for her running commentary during the movie, she did have some issues with the characterization of a few key roles.  Particularly,  she felt that T'Challa in the movie was not as strong willed as T'Challa in the comics.  This, of course is no fault of the actor, it is a choice they made in writing for the movie.  Coach felt that the T'Challa in the Black Panther mo...

With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility

Welcome to the coolest new club at Davis!  Friday's Comic Book Club was fun and informative.  We made locker magnets, ate pizza bagels, talked games, and Spiderman.  Specifically, we talked about the history of Spiderman and the comic, "Spiderman: Renew your vows."  Everyone had a lot to say about the various Spiderman worlds, and Coach gave us a great history lesson about Spiderman and his many villains.   Next meeting will be on Friday, March 2 in the Media Center at 7:30 am.  We will be discussing the very popular Superman: Super Sons of Tomorrow!  You'll have to ask Coach and me about our funny story when we went to buy this comic.
